Plano has no shortage of great family-friendly events to attend throughout the year.
We have put together a list of the must-go-to events of the year. All of these events are featured on the Plano Visitor Bureau’s top annual events. Their listing includes more events. While they are all great, we picked what we believe are the ones you have to be at.
January
Experience the largest model train show in the North Dallas area. The Dallas Area Train Show will have club layouts, how-to clinics, and vendors with trains.Â
March
Texas Fly-Fishing & Brew Festival
At this indoor/outdoor venue attendees can check out a myriad of fly fishing manufacturers, attend lectures on techniques and topics of interest to fly anglers of every stripe, and taste some of the Lone Star State’s best microbrewed beer.
April
Come and enjoy major concerts, contemporary art displays, a classic car show, a custom motorcycle show, and dozens of fun attractions and highlights. Check out the Taste of Texas Food Garden, with delicious cuisine, and cold domestic and craft beers.
June
Night Out on 15th Street is a community dining experience where guests can eat a meal with friends as they are surrounded by the historic beauty of Plano’s arts district. The event features a 300-foot-long table down the middle of 15th Street where arts district chefs will prepare a culinary tasting paired with select beer, wine, and spirits.Â
JulyÂ
The fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. and will live stream on The City of Plano's YouTube page, PTV, and Plano Arts & Events Facebook page. Music is simulcast on 97.5 KLAK.
September
The annual Central Market Plano Balloon Festival is held at Oak Point Park in Plano and includes dozens and dozens of balloons flying over the area.
October
It takes place at Legacy West and features wineries from the area and across the nation, 30 in total and food from many great Plano restaurants.Â
November
Lights at Legacy includes a grand tree-lighting and family-fun event at The Shops at Legacy.
December
This free annual event includes free s'mores, a real snow slide, and ice wars, Victorian music and entertainment and free photos with a Victorian Santa.Â
